Treadmill: 29th of Dec. '14
Today I stretched and ran again on my treadmill. My supervisor keeps on telling me to strive harder on achieving my ultimate goal. Well I guess that motivated me and made me able to reach a higher "score" today. I ran 0.8 km non-stop at a speed that sometimes is very slow but sometimes quite fast. Hahaha I think now I know that that is the trick. I should save my energy for the last bit when I can just boost my speed and boost the distance in which I ran.

Treadmill: 24th of Dec. '14
Like last week, I stretched and ran again. I was so determined in achieving a higher "score" than last week but apparently I still could not beat that "score". I ran the longest for again 0.5 km. I was just so tired. I know my strength sounds very lame. Oh well. Maybe it is true. But still, I am challenged to beat this score. I believe that with practice I can achieve my initial goal of reaching 1 km of running non-stop.

Today was the time in which the Christmas fundraising products are being delivered to our customers. It was ssoooo hectic and frustrating. I mean it is actually kind of our fault that we did not prepare all of the things first before today. This made us have to be so packed with having to prepare the products as well as having to deliver them today. But after all those hardships, of course we managed to get everything in control like we always did before. I'm just so proud of all of us who worked so hard to make everything worked out well today.

Treadmill: 17th of Dec. '14
Today is my first day doing sports in a long time. I realised that my stamina really sucks. The longest distance that I ran without stopping today was 0.5 km. I cannot believe that I was really tired when I reached that distance. I really need to practice running again.
Yearbook: 17th of Dec. '14
Today my friends and I prepared for the Christmas cards. We wrote down the note cards of the message of our customers one by one. It was pretty fun and hilarious since the messages from our customers sometimes are just very funny. Writing these note cards has definitely made me realised that friendships are just so sweet (as cheesy as it may sound). But really. Hahahah.

Today I edited the sponsorship proposal. I was asked to do this task in all of a sudden. I was given this task today afternoon and had to finish it by today midnight. So obviously I rushed making this proposal but finally I succeeded. Phew!
Treadmill: Action Proposal
Please comment on how
this activity will help you to achieve the Learning Outcomes as IB CAS
requirement?
As said in my previous action
proposal, heavy physical exercise is not for me. Plus, because I’m in grade 12
now, I don’t have the time to do time-consuming physical exercise. Thus, I
chose to keep my physical health this year by running on my treadmill at home.
Learning Outcomes:
- Undertaken new challenges
I once reached 1km
without stopping in my treadmill and it was exhausting. It was when I was still
very fit too, before I got hepatitis. So I do have a target of at least getting
up to 1km of running non-stop for the first few weeks and afterwards 2km and
for the last few weeks if possible 3km.
- Shown
perseverance and commitment in my activities
Of course committing
to this activity will be hard for me because when I have set a target, I will
have a strong desire to achieve it and achieving my targets will be hard. So
committing to this activity will be hard.
- Developed
new skills
Because the targets
that I have set for myself are new to me, I will be able to develop new skills.
For example, I will be able to understand how to control my breathing when
doing the challenge of running for 2km non-stop.

Calvin, the president of the yearbook committee, asked me to print the final copy of the yearbook proposal today. So I edited the proposal again for the last time today and finally printed it off. This copy will be given to Bu Harumdah as the official copy of this year's yearbook proposal.

Today we had a meeting about the Christmas event. I am relieved to hear that the helium balloons now cost for 5 thousand. I have great confidence that they will sell well now.
During today's meeting, the topic of the cash that is in the yearbook committee came up again. Remember we decided to have the treasurer share the information of how much cash is in the committee? Well apparently everybody forgot about that. So Pak Todung reminded the treasurer again. She showed us through the projector but has not send the file to all of us. We're definitely looking forward for this information because it will greatly help a lot of divisions when making a decision.
Although right now our communication is better than the previous time we had, I think we still need better communication within the team. Right now I see Pak Todung to be the only one working the communication issue out. The leader of the yearbook committee has been reminded a lot of times to pay attention to communication within the team because it is crucial, but apparently as many times as the yearbook supervisor and team members including myself reminded him, he just would not listen. This is going to be hard.

Today I was in charge of supervising the teachers' yearbook photo shoot. I was partnered up with Michelle T. We were in charge of supervising for two periods (i.e. around 2 hours). The photo shoot was held in the multifunction room and teachers just went there to get their pictures taken.
In the first 30 minutes, the photographers have not arrived yet. He said he was stuck in traffic. So we kind of had a problem. We had to really really apologise to the teachers that came to the multifunction room (which was quite a lot). Their schedules are obviously packed and of course we do not want to disrespect them, telling them to come at a later hour as if insinuating that their schedules are free. So it was pretty scary as Michelle T and I told the teachers about this problem. Some got mad. Well, oh well.
But we encountered this problem by coming up with the solution that we will email the teachers that have come when the photographer came already.
Besides the problem that we had to deal with in the beginning of our supervision time, everything went well. It was really fun to see different teachers posing differently. I got to see another side of them... :|

Today we had a meeting about the upcoming Christmas event on December. Yeay! Christmas is finally here! The PIC of this event was really organised in my opinion. I think that she will lead this event successfully. During the meeting today, we discussed about what to sell for this event. So far we have helium balloons, candies and chocolates. I'm excited about the helium balloons but I don't know if the price is too high because we plan on selling them at Rp. 10, 000 each right now.

We were called for an urgent meeting today. Pak Todung suddenly emailed all of us to come to his room during lunch. We were all quite scared because we didn't know what to expect but when we got there he told us that he was going to talk about how we need more effective communication in the team. Pak Todung and I were actually talking about it a couple days ago and I am glad that he actually called us into a meeting about it. I feel that our yearbook team this year is not so solid. One department doesn't tell the other departments about what they're doing. They don't update even to the admins. So I as the secretary of the group doesn't know much. Today's meeting enables me to voice my opinion on this issue. I suggested that especially the financial data be made transparent to all departments of the yearbook team. The others actually agreed on this so I was glad that we came to an agreement on solving this problem already. I am just expecting that the communication within the team will improve from now on.

Phew! Today went well. Everything worked smoothly. I am proud of the team. Although there were a few problems, like running out of stocks and running out of papers for the bill payments, there was nothing big that we could not handle.
From our hard work today, we have gained a lot of profit. We gained more profit than expected. Thank goodness! In overall, I think that today was a great success. I am thankful to the PIC of this event especially because she worked really hard for it and she organised everything well today. She made sure that all of the cashiers knew what they should do in the beginning of the day.

We had a meeting today regarding the Indonesian day that will be held tomorrow. I am actually pretty nervous, since I don't really know much about it and the PIC just explained about it briefly today. The PIC only made sure we remember what our responsibilities are and, especially for the cashiers, to remember which vendor we are in charge of. I realised that the people in charge of being the cashiers also do not really understand what to expect tomorrow so I'm just really hoping that tomorrow will go well.

We had a meeting today. We talked about the upcoming Cinta Indonesia day. I was decided to be a cashier for the bakso vendor. I am pretty excited for this event because there will be a lot of Indonesian food available at school. I'm particularly excited about the kerak telor food because people say it tastes good.
For this event, I was asked to proofread the proposal that will be made by the fundraising leader. In overall it was okay.

Today I revised the long postponed yearbook proposal. I edited some parts of it, like the description of this year's yearbook theme which is Sigma XV and the sponsorship lists. I didn't really do much because it was halfway done. We used last year's structure of the proposal so what we did was only to revise some parts of the proposal. Also, Calvin had helped me work on the proposal. So yea my workload is not so heavy for this.

HFH Project: 18th of Oct. '14
The 28uild event was held today. It was held in Sentul so it wasn't really far from my friends' and my houses. My friends and I had the privilege of waking up late, unlike many other youths joining the event. (Yeay!). In overall, the event was really fun. We got to socialize with a lot of youths. We got to see how enthusiastic other youths are about community service. It was great! We got to talk to the locals there too. I got to speak to the family that I'm building the house for. I realized that they are not so different to us. They have a great sense of humor and they don't treat me differently like how some other villagers treated me before.
Today was a fun day. It was also a day full of surprises, as my friends and I unexpectedly met our teacher there! It was kind of weird but I am actually thankful that he was there because he became kind of like our supervisor. When we were talking about this event, he said that he used to join this activity when he was in college. I was relieved and happy at the moment he said that because I was also thinking of joining this kind of activity again in the future but I don't think I have time this year to join again because I'm getting busy as a 12th grader. So I'm looking forward to joining this kind of event again in college.Saturday, September 20, 2014
Yearbook: 18th of Sept. '14
We had our youth camp last week and we sold quite a lot of things. I helped cook some popcorns. It was really fun actually. We brought the popcorn maker and it was my first time using it. It took quite a while to make a handful of popcorns but thankfully we had enough time to make enough popcorns for us to sell. Besides helping make the popcorns, I also helped sell some fireworks, s'mores and orange juice. It was really great to see that our event does not only benefit the yearbook team but also the other people. Everyone was really enjoying the things they bought. I especially saw that a lot of people enjoyed playing with the fireworks. It was the first time fireworks were available during youth camp and so I am sure this year's youth camp will be a memorable moment to a lot of people.

Yearbook: 27th of Aug. '14
Today we had a meeting after school. Again, we talked about our event for Youth Camp. We have to hurry because Youth Camp is coming up in a few more weeks. We are only given time to do our fundraising during the bonfire time in Youth Camp so what we do will be limited. So far our ideas are to sing during bonfire and our free time based on requests, sell glow sticks, bolster pillow, food and drinks.
I think that the main problem we have in our team is communication. We discuss our ideas in a google doc while we don't really talk much in our meetings. I hope that in the future we will improve on our communication skills. I hope that after this event is done, we can get to talk in the meeting about how to improve our communication within the team.

Today we had a meeting during lunch time. During the meeting, we decided to just focus on the Youth Camp proposal because the event is coming up soon. So for those who have any ideas for the event, we have to tell the person in charge about it ASAP.
Just a quick update about the yearbook proposal on the other hand:
We now have a sample yearbook proposal from last year. This will greatly help me to make this year's yearbook proposal. We will be making the proposal in google doc.

Today after school we had a meeting about the yearbook proposal. I think we are all still confused about the structure of the proposal. We don't have a budget for the yearbook and when it was discussed the leaders too said they don't know. One of them said to just don't think about it and we will know about it as we go through our events. Hmm.

Yearbook: 15th of Aug. '14
Today we had a meeting during lunch time. We talked about how we really need to get our proposals done. We have to prioritise on getting the design of the yearbook. I believe that we could make this meeting more effective honestly because we didn't really talk much but we took quite a lot of time for it. We spent the whole lunch time to talk about two things. It was also kind of vague. I mean yea we have to get the proposals done but which proposals should we prioritise first and which can wait for later? I tried to ask many questions during the meeting but they weren't answered in detail. My friends also tried to ask too but they got the same result. I really hope in the future meetings the leaders in the team will be more prepared so that the meetings can be more effective.

Yesterday I couldn't help sell the milkshake because I had a meeting with my English club. I trusted the others to sell them but apparently they didn't. So today we were planning on finishing all the milkshakes in stock. However apparently they weren't selling well today. This might be because we sold them during lunch time. They were either full already or they are not in the mood to drink milkshakes as they prefer to eat. I'm not sure of the reason but this means that we will have to sell the milkshakes again next week. Actually, we have to keep on selling the milkshakes until they finish. We put them on the freezer so they will not go bad. All we have to do is blend them again so that they won't solidify into one block of ice. How practical is that right? Thanks to Kak Erika who gave us this idea.

Today we made the milkshakes. We stayed after school to blend all of the milkshake powders that we have in stock with the hope that they will be finished by Friday. We also sold some of the milkshakes today. I think they sold pretty well, remembering it was an after school when a lot of people were home already. So I'm expecting that the milkshakes will sell faster and better tomorrow but today's selling was okay in my opinion. Overall, I think today's activity went well. It was a lot of fun making the milkshakes actually. It was not so hard to make them but I made a looot of mess. I find difficulty to not drop the powder on the table or on the floor. At the end, I had a lot of cleaning up to do. It was pretty yucky. Oh well. At least the result is sppecctaccullar... hahah well that's a bit of an overstatement. But they do smell and tastes really good. I personal favourite: the Bubblegum flavour.

HFH Project: 12th of Aug. '14
Today's meeting was really urgent and crucial. As yearbook activities are becoming our, grade twelve's, priority now, we have to work the scheduling out. We have to make sure that our project here does not clash with our yearbook activities. After a long discussion, we feel that it is our obligation to prioritise our yearbook event over this project. So we regretfully decided that we have to stop this project. Since for this week's fundraising Calvin bought some milkshake powder already, we will finish those first then after that we will close down our fundraising activity. The money that we've collected will be donated to the Habitat For Humanity organisation and as our last CAS meeting, we will join the build with the 2Build event, which will be on October.

HFH Project: 8th of Aug. '14
Today most of the group members helped sell the bracelets. We got a really big hit. More than half of the bracelets are gone now. Sold. I was surprised that someone actually bought the bracelets that I made out of wool. The colours were okay but the strings are so big that it doesn't look like a bracelet anymore. Well, everybody has different preferences. Like what I learn in BM class, there are a lot of market segments. Different market segments prefer different things. When I count the earnings that we got for today, I think it was about Rp. 200,000. It's really unexpected that we got a lot of money for this. In just one day too! I wonder now how much the vendors in my school's canteen make everyday (:s)

HFH Project: 7th of Aug. '14
Today I sold some bracelets. I didn't get any help from my group members and this is getting annoying. Thankfully there is the attendance list. So they won't get the CAS hours for today's selling. I really hope that the attendance list will take effect on them. Not everyone in the group knows about it yet because yesterday not all came and some went home before we got to talk about the attendance list.
Besides that though, the selling went well. We got quite a lot of customers. I didn't really expect that they would buy the bracelets as expensive as 20 thou at first but apparently they are happy to buy them at that price. We also have a couple bracelets and we sell them for 35 thou and apparently they are selling well too.

Today all of us got together after school to talk about ideas for this year's fundraising. We needed a plan. What are we going to sell next? etc. We're selling bracelets tomorrow and the day after. So what are we selling next week? After a looong talk, we decided to go for jello.
Today we also talked about having an attendance list because a lot of people are now getting so lazy in attending not just meetings but also the selling time. So we decided to not give those who didn't come to a meeting any CAS hours. We thought that this was fair and so we will start implementing it from today. Febie will be in charge of this. To put some control, the only ones who can edit are Febie and me.
I now truly understand that within an organisation, rules are really important. Sometimes I feel like school is just making people's life harder with their rules, because I mean they put rules on the smallest thing that I didn't even think about. But now I truly understand that it is important to have rules on everything. It is even impressive now that when I think about it that my school thinks about things as detail as that.

Yearbook: Service Proposal
Please
comment on how this activity will help you to achieve the Learning Outcomes as
IB CAS requirement?
The
twelve graders have always organized the yearbook. As one of the twelve graders
this year, I get the opportunity to be a part of it. We, the yearbook
committee, are required to plan and organize programs in order to fundraise
enough money to make the yearbook. Through the programs, we will be providing
the students, teachers and staffs with different goods and services. We aim not
only to gain profit from the programs that we will be hosting, but also to give
enjoyment to others. Through the programs that we will have, we hope to lift up
the mood and tighten the bonds of the SPH Sentul family, thus living up to our
class’s name, Σxv, which emphasizes how the SPH Sentul family is altogether,
without any preclusion.
Learning Outcomes:
- I will increase my
awareness of my strengths and areas for growth
Even
though I hold the secretary position in the yearbook committee, it doesn’t mean
that I will be working on the same task for the entire year. I will be assigned
to do other jobs and I will need to help my teammates in their jobs. I will
also need to understand the nature of the other jobs in the committee in order
to work in the dynamic of the team. Thus, I will be exposed to different tasks
in the organization and learn the many different strengths and weaknesses I
have.
- Undertaken new challenges
I
have never worked together with some of the members in the yearbook committee. Thus,
I will need to learn and adapt to the unique ways of how each of these people work,
and I will surely face new challenges in doing so. For example, I have a hunch
that some of the people in the committee work to their last minutes (literally).
I have never worked together with this type of people before, thus dealing with
them will be a new challenge for me.
- Planned and initiated activities
We
have to create a proposal in which a detailed plan should be attached. We may
also need to initiate some events in order to fundraise more money.
- Worked collaboratively with others
The
yearbook committee will have to work together efficiently and effectively in
order to succeed in creating the year’s yearbook.
- Shown perseverance and commitment in my activities
Throughout
the academic year, surely we will face some problems and difficulties. It is
then up to us to persevere and commit or not.
- Considered the ethical implications of my actions
All
of the decisions that the yearbook committee makes have a great impact towards
everyone, especially our community at school. Thus, all of the decisions that
we as a group and we as individuals make have to be thought of first: if they
are ethically okay or not, if they will create problems to other people or not,
etc.
- Developed new skills
Through
this activity, I will surely develop new skills, particularly skills for
teamwork. One of the examples has already been mentioned previously, which is
the skill of adapting to people’s different dynamics of working.

HFH Project: 14th of July '14
Today all of the group members should have come but only Kelvin, Chika, Sherni and I came. We all were distributed some packagings that Kelvin got for the bracelets. The packaging is a great idea. They look cool too. The plastics and colours of the papers make the bracelets look expensive. We also planned on meeting our supervisor from HFH in their office right after that but Sherni had to go home early so she didn't join us there.
So Kelvin, Chika and I met our supervisor from HFH in their office in Bellezza. We got lost in the building because their office was apparently in a secluded corner of the building. We got a lot of infos. One of them about the 2Build program where youths get to build houses hands-on. We got posters to help us fundraise. We also got brochures and pamphlets to help us promote our fundraising project at school. I believe we all were really excited after hearing our supervisor speak about HFH's plan regarding the fundraising box. They said that they plan on creating a fundraising box that is also interactive to the giver. Something like a box where when a coin is put in the coin will roll over from one side of the box to the other. Something like we can find in Timezone. Although it is not so fancy I think that it is better than just having a plain box that is boring. They told us their tag line to promote for their fundraising event too. "2 thou per day to help the poor have a decent house" (something like that) and we were really blown away. 2 thousand only? And we can help the poor have a house? I think this visit really is beneficial. We don't only get to be more motivated in our fundraising program but also we get to have some fresh ideas on how to fundraise.

- Use brick poster in which each brick in the poster is 'sold' for 100 rupiah. The brick 'sold' will then be for the buyer to decorate. They can write their names on it, etc. When all of the bricks in the poster is 'sold', it equals to the money needed to build for one house.
- Buy HFH pins and use them when fundraising so that we can look like fundraising for real. It will increase our credibility I guess.
- Use catchy tag lines

Yep! My prediction was right. The strings weren't enough, for everybody too. So I brought some of the strings that I have at home and we meet up in Chika's house again today to distribute the strings. We ended up making the bracelets again in her house. The guys apparently are having problems making the connector. So they gave their bracelets to Mandy for her to make the connectors and we agreed to reduce the amount of bracelets that Mandy has to make from 20 to 15 bracelets. Today's meeting was more productive than the last meeting for me. I actually finished making some bracelets. Last time I didn't even get to finish one bracelet. I think it was also because I had to learn first. But I think I wasn't really focused that time too. So this is an improvement.

Today I made some more bracelets at home. I'm running out of ideas of how to make each of bracelets unique. I have limited colours and I can only do twister and braid. The only thing that I can work with to make each bracelet unique is probably the way the colour and patterns are arranged. But with this too, some of the 20 bracelets will still look similar to some other. So today I tried making different patterns with the strings. I tried using only two strings and looping one of the strings to the other. I also tried using different strings. I tried using wool but it turned out really bad so I'm not using that again. I still need to make so much more bracelets! I think I'm going to donate some of my bracelets to fill in my assigned portion. I spent 2 hours today and still I'm not even done with half of what I am supposed to make, not even 10! I'm getting annoyed now.

I made some bracelets today at home. It was really fun. I tried making the diagonal shaped bracelet but I failed. I used too little strings so the width of the bracelet wasn't wide enough. The bracelet instead started to twist but it becomes another style and looks cool too so I'm going to keep that. It takes quite a while to make these bracelets. I really don't know how long it will take me to finish all these strings that I got. Today I only made 3 bracelets and I spent around 3 hours already. So it's like I need 1 hour to make 1 bracelet. The result too is not a one-hour worth in my opinion. The bracelets that I made seem to be very easy to make. I'm not sure too if the strings that I have is enough for 20 bracelets. It looks like I will need more to be able to get 20 bracelets out of it. But let's see later. I might be wrong.

HFH Project: 1th of July '14
Today is the first meeting we have during our summer. I know this sounds lame. It is lame that we are working during our summer but it is not so lame when we're actually doing it. Today we made some bracelets to sell after the summer. I couldn't make any bracelets so Chika and Mandy taught me how to make them first before I actually did it. It was really easy to learn. I especially like the twister style because I find it the most easy to make. My goal is to make the arrow shaped bracelets though. I know it will take me forever but it will be very cool if I can actually make something as hard and pretty as that. We took quite a while in Chika's house learning and making bracelets but we obviously didn't had enough time to make all of the strings we have into bracelets. So we distributed the strings. We assigned each one of us to make 20 bracelets, and we have to be finished before school starts so that we can start selling right away.

Yoga: 11th of June '14
Today is my last yoga meeting. Even so, I will still keep on practicing my yoga movements because I think it would be such a pity if I worked very hard all these weeks but end up inflexible like I was previously before joining yoga.
At the end of this CAS activity, I feel like I have grown not just physically but also mentally. Through the meditation that I have to do in the beginning of every yoga class, I became more patient and more focused. I feel like I am now calmer in handling problems that I have in my life because I learned in yoga class that I have to let go of the worries that I have once in a while.
In the beginning of this CAS activity, I was questioning whether it is ethical to take yoga classes (because a lot of people think that yoga is a process where one needs to unite one's body, mind and soul to reach enlightenment). After going through this CAS activity, I think that yoga is a completely ethical sport. In yoga class, I never was asked to meditate for so long as to unite my body, mind and soul to achieve "freedom" or "peace". The only unordinary thing that I was asked to do was to practice improve my mental state like letting go of my worries. Yoga may not be a conventional sport, but why should a sport that improves mental health be considered unethical?
Above all, I learned a lot from yoga class and I am glad to have chosen yoga as my CAS activity.

Today was the potluck service. We were soooo exhausted. People who said that they would buy the items (e.g. Calvin and Kelvin) apparently couldn't because they hadn't think through what transportation they're going to use. It was really chaotic. Everybody was panicking. Some customers gave their money right at this day too so we had to make sure that the ones buying their orders really do buy their orders. Most of the items ordered came on time though, which is a relief. But there were some items that are forgotten. Chika forgot to buy the 2 boxes of pizzas that our customers ordered. These orders are actually two of the orders that gives us the biggest profit, so it was really important that we get them for our customers. As a solution, we asked Chika's driver to buy the pizzas for us. It came about 20 minutes late but good thing it came before the potluck party was over. Besides that though, everything went smoothly. I am really really proud of my team members. I believe that we learned a lot from this experience. Every little detail should be thought about first. For me personally, I feel that I really learned that a group's ability that does not all depend on the leader but actually most of it depends on the members in it.

HFH Project: 10th of June '14
Today I sold some more brownies and peanut butter cookies. They sold out really fast. So it wasn't really a big fuss.
Mandy, Chika and I also went to Botani today after school to revise the proposal for Bu Harum. We got some feedbacks from Bu Harum. She said to change the list of menus. We have to sell less brownies and cookies, we're not allowed to sell es mambo and drinks and we're also not allowed to sell pasta. These are because either the food contain a lot of sugar or because they are sold by the vendors in our school's canteen. So Mandy, Chika and I had to research on other recipes that are healthier. We looked at food that contains fruits and veggies. So we changed es mambo with es susu and drinks with smoothies. We added some other menus like fruits covered in chocolate. I'm hoping that Bu Harum will accept the proposal this time. We finally finished the proposal today. We rushed because we want to get this done before the holiday and tomorrow is our last day of school. Now all we need to do is wait for Mandy to have it print and have her give it to Bu Harum tomorrow.
Besides that, while we were in Botan, we helped buy some of the times that are ordered for tomorrow's potluck service. We're scared if we will not have enough time to buy all of the items before the time tomorrow so we did this. We bought some of the orders for Cha Time and JCo. I'm really worried about tomorrow's potluck service. Hope nothing goes wrong.

HFH Project: 9th of June '14
We were really overwhelmed by the potluck service. We have a lot of things to do and things are so not organised. Thankfully Regina sort things out. She made an excel document on google drive listing out all of the menus that we're selling. We now just need a price tag for them. How much do the menus cost us? How much are we going to sell them for? And roughly how much are we making profit from these menus?
So thanks to Regina now we know the prices of the menus we're selling. Not a lot of people are coming to school today so I am in charge of collecting the payments for the potluck. It is quite a sudden for our customers actually because we just announced the prices we're charging through email not so long ago and we said that the last payment that they could make will be tomorrow, a day before the D-day. I was just hoping that all the customers can work this all out and be cooperative, but looking at how today goes I am optimistic that all the customers will make their payments on time. There were a lot of payments going in today.
Besides that, my group and I also sold what's left of the brownies and cookies. Chika bake some more brownies because Regina's group didn't want to bake the materials that they left last week. There were some materials that was not enough so she had to buy some more materials like eggs and sugar. So our costs adds but I'm pretty sure that we're still making profits. So it's okay. Today's selling went well so everything right now is fine.

HFH Project: 6th of June '14
Yesterday I couldn't help sell the brownies and cookies because I had to go somewhere so I couldn't come to school. But today I helped sell the brownies and cookies. Apparently, yesterday we didn't sell much but thankfully, today we sold a lot. The brownies were all finished so Regina's group has to make them again and finish all the materials this time. The peanut butter cookies sold well too today but there are still some left. Since the cookies do not rot easily we can still sell them on Monday next week. We just had to store them appropriately and securely at school.
Besides selling brownies and cookies, today we also had a meeting to talk about next week's potluck service. So next week on Wednesday the whole school is going to have a potluck party and we plan on buying people's choices of food for their potluck and delivering them to their homeroom. We will raise the price and gain profit that way. Currently we plan on rising the price up to 10%. Our choices of shops range from KFC, McDonalds, Burger King, ChaTime, Domino's and Pizza Hut. These aren't finalised yet though. We still need to check on the prices so that we can know how much we're going to charge our customers later. There might still be changes to the percentage of the price increase and shops range.

Yoga: 5th of June '14
I'm reaching the end of this CAS activity. One more lesson, next week, I will be done with yoga. Although I will not be joining yoga class anymore after next week, my instructor told me to keep on practicing at home. I felt that after several times practicing yoga, I became more flexible and of course I do not want to be inflexible like I was in the beginning of yoga class. This is why, I have to keep on practicing at home although I am not going to be attending the yoga class anymore.
Today, only one of my "classmates" came to practice. The class was pretty quiet. It was not really fun. Plus, there was not anything different in today's practice. We did the same routine: meditation, sun greeting, cat pose, cobra pose, camel pose, etc. However, I did find some moments entertaining before. When I was doing the pose that required me to reach my toes, I could reach them quite easily. I felt really good about myself because I used to not be able to reach my toes, or at least it was really hard for me to reach my toes.
Although I learned a lot from yoga class, I decided not to continue the lesson because in every meeting, we always repeat the same pose (except once or twice when I did headstand). It gets boring and so I learn fewer every time I go to class. Nevertheless, I still recommend people to join yoga class (at least for a month) because they can learn a lot from it, not just physically but mentally.
Below is the picture of today's yoga practice:

HFH Project: 4th of June '14
Today my group and I made the brownies and the cookies. Although the proposal wasn't approved yet, Bu Helmy said that it will not be a problem if we sell these first. So we mad brownies and cookies by dividing ourselves into groups. Febie, Calvin, Kelvin and Regina are in charge of making the brownies and they're making them in the school's cooking lab. While Chika, Mandy, Sherni and I are in charge of making the cookies and we're making them in my place. The division of the team was pretty effective, however there was no control at all in Regina's team. They were told to use all of the materials at once to make 100 brownies but they instead used only half of the materials bought. They made it just for 50 brownies. Also, Calvin, Kelvin and Sherni didn't come to help today so we didn't get as much help as expected. Besides these I guess we all did fine today. We succeeded in making the brownies and cookies for tomorrow's selling and they tastes good too. I'm proud of us.

HFH Project: 3rd of June '14
Today Chika and I went to the supermarket to buy the materials that we will need to make brownies and cookies, as we plan on selling these for next week's fundraising. We bought the materials for 100 brownies and 100 cookies. It was pretty hard to calculate the amount of materials we need to buy on the store before. Chika and I should've done this before going to the store. What we did before was we look at list of materials needed in the recipe and calculated how much we need to make 100 pieces manually. It took quite a while. To minimise time, we should've also divided the job. For example, I could be in charge of collecting the materials needed for brownies and Chika could be in charge of collecting the materials needed for cookies.

Yoga: 28th of May '14
Today I did the same routine as I usually did on the other weeks. I did meditation, sun greeting, moon greeting, chakravakasana, cobra pose, child pose and many other poses. I think that today was a bit boring because there was nothing different during the lesson. However, I feel that the lesson is getting harder every week. I was sweating a lot before. Maybe it was also because of the room that was hot, but I think that I feel like the lesson is getting harder because my expectation to improve also gets higher.
Looking from the beginning of this lesson, I realised that I have actually improved. I have become more flexible. At first I could not reach the tip of my toes but now I can, although only for a while.

Today I continued working on the proposal for Bu Harum. It is finally finished so I sent it to Bu Helmy first for her to double-check. I just hope that she will agree to the proposal so that my group and I can start fundraising next week.

HFH Project: 23rd of May '14
Today I worked on the proposal that Bu Helmy, my CAS coordinator, asks my group and I to make for Bu Harumdah, the school's principal. I worked on the introduction, objectives, schedule run-down, details of the event and conclusion. The proposal is saved in a google doc so all of my group members can look at it and edit it. However, the ones in charge of making the proposal are only Mandy, Chika and me. For today, only Chika and I though worked on it. We only get to finish some parts of the proposal. We still need Mandy to work on her part and then we can finish up our parts.

HFH Project: 21st of May '14
Some representatives from Habitat For Humanity came to my school today. They held a meeting to present about their mission and vision and I was called to the meeting as the representative of my group.
During the meeting, the representatives of HFH talked about the Ripple Effect that they hope to achieve from their project of building houses for the poor. They said sure the poor need people to give them education, food and clothes, but all of these actually starts from if they have a house. If they don't have a comfortable house to live in, where are they going to study? How are they going to have a decent rest to be able to work to their fullest? The Ripple Effect talks about how with our act of helping them build a house we can help their whole life, starting from their physiological needs to their emotional needs.
After the meeting, one of the representatives then shared about their experiences in the organization. She said that a lot of youths are so eager in helping with this project. One of the schools in Jakarta even has a club dedicated for HFH and only selected students are able to enter the club. I was surprised that many teenagers these days are excited to do social works. Thus this motivates me further to carry on with this project. It also made me want to have my group members be excited about the project too.
Yoga: 21st of May '14
Today's was just like any other lesson before, just that today I was alone in class. All of my "classmates" could not join the lesson today, which has its own strength and weakness. I can go through the lesson pretty quickly because I am alone and do not have to wait for my "classmates" but I felt pretty lonely being the only one in class.
Today I did the usual routine: meditate, did the sun greeting, moon greeting, cat and many more poses. I realised that I have actually been doing many poses in the wrong way. When doing the tree pose, I should have raised my chin. When doing several other poses, I also should have closed my eyes but I did not.
I also realised that closing my eyes makes the pose hard to do. My yoga instructor said that it is because people tend to be worried about things when they close their eyes and so they tend to lose their focus easily when they close their eyes.
After several times going through this lesson, I learned that yoga actually helps me both physically and mentally. Yoga helps me to stretch the muscles I usually don't use. For example, I usually work and sit in front of a computer all day. I do not really move my shoulders, but thanks to yoga class I put to use my shoulder muscles and reduce the risk of getting my muscles stiff. Besides that, yoga also helps me forget about my worries at school for a while. During the meditation, my yoga instructor said to only focus on the air that I breathe in and out. This actually helps me to forget about my anxiety and burden for a while, which I think is healthy.

HFH Project: Service Proposal
Together with my friends, I am aiming to fundraise a
sum of money to help build houses for the poor through the organization called Habitat
for Humanity. My friends and I are planning on selling food and drinks during
lunchtime at school every Thursday and Friday, and if we have to prepare in
advance, we will do this on Wednesday and Thursday afterschool. After raising
some money, we will donate them to Habitat for Humanity in October to support
its program called 28uild in which we will have the opportunity to actually help
build the houses that we have helped fund.
Through this activity, my friends and I can obtain
an experience on how to run an “organization”, but above all, we are able to
help others through our own efforts.
Learning
Outcomes:
- I will increase my awareness of my
strengths and areas for growth
This
CAS activity is more of a project that includes various activities such as
cooking, communicating effectively and selling. So, through this CAS activity,
I will be able to increase my awareness on where my strengths and areas for
growth are.
- Undertaken new challenges
I am the person in charge for this CAS project. I
have 7 people in my team and I have never led a group this big before. So
undertaking this responsibility must be a new challenge for me.
- Planned and initiated activities
This activity is a small student led activity. My
friends and I started and planned it.
- Worked collaboratively
with others
Since I am doing this activity together with my
friends, this CAS activity will require me to collaborate with others.
- Shown perseverance and
commitment in my activities
To work together will be very hard. We will have
problems along the way but we will show perseverance and commitment in order to
finish this CAS activity.
- Engaged with issues of
global importance
Through this activity, my friends and I will help
poor families, financially and physically, to build decent houses for them to
live in. We try to engage with the global issue of poverty, even though our
actions will only affect our community. However, we think that it will be more
worth it to start small than to never start at all.
- Considered the ethical
implications of my actions
By undertaking this activity, I will be forced to
contemplate on whether or not my actions are morally correct. Not only to the
poor families my friends and I will be helping, but also to my friends.
- Developed new skills
Through this activity, I will increase my expertise
on a lot of areas, including communication, persuasion, organization, and planning.
